In UCG NET exams there is always confusion among the candidates that how the paper is evaluated or what is the basis of selection. There are three papers , first paper is set to test the reasoning skill , general awareness and comprehension ability and the second paper is to test the over all knowledge about the subject that any candidate select. As per the UGC NET examination rule, to get the third paper evaluated, candidate is supposed to score the minimum qualifying marks in both Paper I and Paper II. The minimum score that has to be scored  by different category’s candidate are as following:Â

Paper III is descriptive paper , which test the ability of the candidate in the selected subject. If the candidate is able to qualify the Paper I and Paper II , there are less chances that a candidate might not find his or her name in the final result of UGC NET., provided that the candidate has tried to answer more than half of  the questions  from all the sections given in the Paper III correctly in the minimum required words. What goes wrong with most of the candidate is that they try to answer all the question of all the sections and thus they are left with no time.
