ORISSA PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION (ADVERTISEMENT No. 3 OF 2009-2010) is inviting application from the prospective candidates for recruitment to 556(five hundred fifty-six) posts of Assistant Surgeons in Junior Class-I of Orissa Medical Service cadre under Health & Family Welfare Department in the pay band of Rs.15,600-39100/-plus grade pay Rs.5400/- with usual dearness and other allowances sanctioned by Government of Orissa from time to time. The posts are temporary and likely to be made permanent.Â

AGE : Maximum 32(thirty-two) years and Minimum 21 (twenty-one) years of age on the 1st August, 2009, i.e. he/she must not have been born earlier than 2nd August, 1977 and not later than 1st August, 1988.
The upper age limit is relaxable by 3(three) years for candidates belonging to Socially & Educationally Backward Classes (S.E.B.C.), by 5 years for candidates belonging to the categories of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Women and Ex-Servicemen and by 10 years for Physically Handicapped candidates (Orthopaedically Handicapped).Â
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:Â
(i)  Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from any recognized University in  India or  equivalent qualification or be a holder of a registrable medical qualification from a recognized Medical College in United Kingdom.Â
(ii)       After passing the final M.B.B.S. examination, where M.B.B.S. course is of 4 ½ years duration, a candidate must have successfully completed Housemanship for at least one year. But if a candidate has passed the final M.B.B.S. examination of five years course, where there is no obligatory rotating Housemanship prior to award of the M.B.B.S. degree, he/she must have completed successfully Housemanship for at least six months on or before the last date prescribed for receipt of application for the above post.Â
(iii)      In case he/she has acquired M.B.B.S. degree from a foreign University, he/she is required to have passed the screening test conducted by the National Board of Examination as prescribed by the Medical Council of India vide Notification No.MCI-203(9) Regn.2001, dated 13.02.2002.Â
(iv)Â Â Â Â Â Â A candidate before appointment will have to register himself/herself under the Orissa Medical Registration Act, 1961, if not, already registered.Â
