Leave policies are important for employers as well as employees. And above all the HR managers must know very will to formulate the leave policies for their organization. It is compulsory for any organization registered under shops and establishments act or factory act to formulate leave policy for its workers in executive and non executive category.
Some of the leaves that are needed to be compulsorily formulated by Human Resource Manager are following:
1)Â Â Â Â Â Compulsory Leave: These are the leaves when organizations are on holiday and employees are not allowed to work.
2)Â Â Â Â Â Earned Leave: These leaves are allocated to employees which they can use according to their choice. All the registered organizations allocate the maximum number of earned leaves and how those leaves can be used by those employees. Suppose if the maximum number of earned leave in one year is 15, the employee may not be allowed to use more that 5 earned leaves in a quarter. Earned leaves are not part of the compulsory leave.
3)     Sick Leave: These are the leaves which are allocated to employees when they don’t keep well. First of all the leaves are accounted as earned leave in a quarter and once the earned leave quota is over the leave can be extended as sick leave. The employee may receive partial payment or no payment at all depending upon the policy of the concerned organization during the period of sick leave.
4)Â Â Â Â Â Simple Leave: These leaves are usually requested by employees and must be approved by the concerned authorities in the organization.
5)Â Â Â Â Â Maternity Leave: Enterprises having female employees must formulate maternity leave. They should clearly specify the duration, frequency and conditions for maternity leave. It would be better if the company arranges for in house health service provider for the pregnancy test. Having in house check can prevent false leave requests.
Besides, above mentioned leaves there are organizations who are having policy of allotting leaves to their employees on occasions like marriage, birthday etc.
