Foreign Universities to Enter in India, Advantages and Disadvantages

Foreign universities are going to enter in India. It is expected to pass out as another big bang non event for most of the Indians. The likelihood of foreign universities creating their own campus with the facilities and qualities that they are having in US or Uk is highly unlikely. Ministry of Human Resources has asked to deposit Rs. 50 crore if a foreign university wants to start its venture in India. The terms and conditions for foreign universities to operate in India would be similar to that which are already followed by private universities in India.

There are reports claiming that the academicians would be able to get higher salary. However, one shouldn’t forget that if foreign universities operate on the patterns of private university things would become macabre as  most of the academicians would work on contract with low wages and insecure jobs. This is the truth of most of the private universities which are operating in India. Government is assuring that foreign universities would not be allowed  to transfer their earnings from India to their home land. If this clause is implemented, it is highly unlikely that any sensible and quality educational institution from western world would like to operate in India. Most likely foreign universities might enter in India to create brand awareness rather than providing quality education.

Indian education system is based on providing opportunities to weaker sections of the society. Frankly speaking 80 percent of India belongs to this section and Ministry of Human Resources must always have concern about SC, ST and OBC candidates. If these foreign universities operate in India on the pattern of private universities then these people who have been progressing with the aid of reservation system would once again be in the state of disadvantage, as these international institutions don’t like to compromise on quality of merit and more than likely they would never allow less meritorious students to enter their institutions irrespective of weak or strong family background of the admission seeker. The foreign education institutions bill would have been more India friendly had it allowed at least 50 percent reservation for SC , ST and OBC candidates. It seems that this is a veiled attempt by Kapil Sibbal and his ministry to deprive the people of weaker section from the right of reservation which they have been enjoying in government services and government run premier institutes like IIMs and IITs.

I dont know what this person was thinking when he posted this article. One statement was rightly put down here that this weaker section has been enjoying there right in the government services and institutes. Yes they are really enjoying! I dont know for how many more years the so called weaker people are going to use reservation as crunches only to deny another more capable person his seat.
I have many friends of weaker section coming from a sound families. But they never complain that they are treated in unfairly in any way. Infact they know at how great advantage they are today than the general people. There are people under the non-creamy layer on both sides. But those with weaker castes are the only ones gaining here.
Lastly this guy seems to be only concerned about the reservation in the bill. What about the quality of education thats going to improve and the progress of the nation due to FDI and many more such benefits that you can find on google also. Stop degrading atleast now!
