Central Institute of Psychiatry, Ranchi is one of the most prominent organizations for higher learning courses in mental sciences. This institute has announced the notification for the admission to the specialization courses in mental sciences. The name of the courses and required qualifications are following:
- M. D (psychiatry) MBBS from any MCI recognized institute or university. Internship should be completed by 15th of February 2010. The course durations is of three years and one year extension is given to candidates having diploma of two years in the same course.
- Diploma in Psychological Medicine: This is a two year course offered to MBBS candidates. Internship conditions are same to MD course.
- PHD in clinical Psychology: This is a 3 year course offered to MA / MSc Psychology pass outs. Concession of one year for those who are having M Phil qualification
- M Phil in Medical and Social Psychology: MA/ MSc in Psychology can apply for this course. The course duration is around 2 years.
- M Phil in Psychiatric Social Work: This course is offered to Post Graduates in Sociology. The course duration is of 2 years.
- Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing: A grade Certificate in genral nursing and midwifery with work experience of 2 years as staff nurse is required for joining this course. The course duration is one year.
