Recently I came across an email which claimed that forwarding that email to other people can fetch me exorbitant amount of dollars. To be frank the money offered was mind boggling. The language of the email was so enthralling that anyone would have been trapped and started forwarding it to other people in their address book. People who think that making money on the internet is nothing but cakewalk easily fall prey to such kind of hoaxes. As long as, these emails are intended for fun they are absolutely okay for people who take every spam in their in box very seriously or those who have created a long list of emails in their address book and want to forward a mail to all the people in the address book. Before taking any such action do a search on the official website of the company which is supposed to give you the payment.
These emails originate from unknown locations, mostly Africa and Eastern Europe, most of the time they are harmless. However, they can also be harmful if you believe in it. Just imagine after forwarding 1000 emails you get an email which claims that you have earned 20000 dollars and it will be transferred to the bank account. In the name of transferring the money to your bank account they might ask you to pay money for wire transfer or official paper work. There are many innocents who fall prey to such kind of hoax and send money to these fraudsters as they believe that they are just sending the token amount for their hard earned amount on internet.
Things don’t work like that on internet. If someone has to transfer money to you and you are asked to send the transaction or paper expenses. Please ask the individual or institution to deduct the money from your earnings and make it very obvious to them that in any case you don’t intend to send them any sort of money. Most likely you will never receive any email from the fake individual or institution.
